PROJECT PROPOSAL
The Beginning
My idea developed from a news article regarding the Beirut Explosion. The article spoke of a young woman, a first responder to the fire on the soon to be explosion site. It detailed her life and passions, her fiancé and his planned future with her.
However, I believe the idea I have has existed within my conscious a long time before this event. Like every human does, you contemplate your existence and purpose. You consider your life and acknowledge death. I think this transcends the timeline of past, present and future but in doing so also connects them together?
I want to explore our relationship with life and death. Not focusing on soley the beginning or end but the journey In between.
An aspect of this I find interesting is the discussion surrounding whether time is linear and as to whether the future can affect the past.
I might not explicitly feature each facet but instead use a technique that is from the past, to illustrate the present e.g.
How does Life and Death link to Past, Present, Future?
In the simple sense during your life you exist in the present but you carry memories from the past that you might subconsciously use to make decisions that affect your future.
How will I collect primary research and where?
I will be going to museums, in person and virtually. As for artists that will inform my idea I’m considering Charline Von Heyl for his technique and style with oil paints. I might possible look at Marc Quinn because of his subject matter.
To manage my ongoing evaluations, I will have a visual diary to quickly make notes but all of my evaluations will be collated into a blog. Setting smart targets will allow me to stay on track and keep focused. Additionally, peer assessments and feedback will greatly help develop my ideas further. Due to the restrictions because of coronavirus, I will also be recording how I overcome challenges.
Interviews, websites, tv programs and books are some of the proposed research sources I will be using.
